PowerView® Automation by Hunter Douglas

Nearly all Hunter Douglas and Alta shades and blinds can be motorized adding convenience to your Home.  Automation can make your home more energy efficient and secure.

Why smart shades?

  • Added Convenience—easily control shades with a button press of the remote, tap on your mobile device, automatically, or even with your voice.

  • Increased Privacy—schedule shades to automatically close whenever you want.

  • Better Energy Efficiency—schedule shades to raise and lower to keep interiors warmer or cooler, depending on the season.

  • Enhanced Security—give your home a lived-in look while you’re away by scheduling shades to automatically raise and lower at set times.

  • Safer for Children—because smart shades lack lift cords, they’re a safer option than shades with exposed cords.

How do I control PowerView shades and blinds?

  • Wall Remote or Pebble® Handheld Remote
Easily control individual or all shades in a room with a PowerView® Remote.  Endless color combinations to make it fit your home.

  • Smart Phone or Tablet with the PowerView® App
Through the app you can control each shade in your house individually or all at once.  The app also allows you to create scenes and schedule them for a specific time each day.  I like to have my shades down 1/3 in the afternoon; this is a "scene", a specific way the shades are set in a room or house.  I can then schedule that scene for specific days of the week and at specific time.  You can create endless scenes and schedules.

  • PowerView® Hub & Home Integration
Add a PowerView® hub to control your shades from anywhere in the world and integrate it with your Smart Home.  Nearly all smart home platforms work with Hunter Douglas and the PowerView® app.  Alexa, Apple Home, Google, Contol4, & Josh just to name a few.  We help you set up the PowerView® app in your home but we do not integrate it into your smart home.  Many home owners will do this them selves or for more advanced systems hire a home integrator.

  • Voice
Yes with the PowerView® hub and home integration you can tell your home assistant to open or close your shades.

How are they powered?

  • Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Batteries
No more AA or C batteries!!  Now all motorized shades can have a lithium-ion rechargeable battery.  These batteries are either behind the shades or many times are now "IRB" Internal Rechargeable Batteries.  Most customers that use their shades twice a day report they need to charge them every 12-18 months.

  • Solar Chargers
Can be added to many shades for easy maintenance or hard to reach windows.  They will keep your Lithium-Ion battery charger year round.

  • Hard Wired
Many new and custom homes are pre-wiring for motorized shades.  Each window has a low voltage wire that runs to a DC power supply.  No batteries, no charging, no maintenance!  Please let me know if you would like me to work with your contractor at time of pre-wire to coordinate this option.
